OU Communication Questions and Reflection Essay

Part 1: Begin with an introductory paragraph that is written appropriately and sets up the paper. Then, after conducting the interview, you will write the person’s responses to your questions in bullet format in 2 – 3 pages, double-spaced (interview questions can be single spaced and/or bulleted), 12-point font. Minimum of two complete pages.

For example:

Question 1: “Pat, what motivated you to work in the field of social work?”

Response 1: Pat really felt called to the profession. She said, “my passion is working with children.” With an autistic son, she felt the need to help other children and families who were struggling with this diagnosis.

Interview Questions. You may ask your own questions if you choose, but suggesting prompts are listed below:

What motivated the person to work in that field?

What aspects of the job do they enjoy and not enjoy? 

• Would they choose this job again?  Why or why not?

What do they find the most challenging about the job? 

What kinds of activities do they do to avoid burn-out? 

• What advice would they give to students thinking of entering their profession and/or becoming helpers

Part 2: Write your response and reaction to the interview in 2 – 3 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font. Minimum of two complete pages. You should answer the following questions:

• After interviewing this person, do you think you would enjoy this job? 

Why or why not?

What surprised you to learn?
